Also we will discuss the pressure for all our women to keep up with their maintenance, and the various domestic responsibilities that they have to uphold.

So Who Turned 19?

Not me, maybe you, but more importantly Eritrea. A young nation celebrated its 19th birthday May 24, 2010. This marks the independence our brothers and sisters fought for 30 years. What does it mean to say I'm Eritrean? Can you consider someone that was raised in the Diaspora Eritrean even if they can’t speak or write in Tigrinya, be able to recognize our cultural dishes, or know the term guayla? Also, do you find yourself hating on those raised in the Diaspora that act so extra Eritrean? Is going back home to Eritrea important to you?
